West Toronto Junction Revisited 4th Edition |
|||
|
The fourth edition of this popular book (3000 copies sold) has been edited for factual changes brought to light by research in the last five or six years. Many new photos have also surfaced, making it possible to exchange earlier photos for later ones and to now date almost all photos from 1909 or earlier. Six pages have been added: four pages of photos to the churches section and a two page appendix with a list of Junction Mayors 1888-1909 along with their pictures. Another change is the addition of a "women's page" with pictures of some notable local women. West Toronto Junction played a very prominent part in the history of west end Toronto and was an administrative centre for York Township during those years as well. This is the only history of the village/town/city. A. B. Rice was a local newspaper editor, who also wrote for the Toronto Globe and Star. During the 1940s and 1950s he wrote a column for West Toronto Weekly, where the material for this book originated. He was also the co-author of The History of the County of Welland, published in 1887. Available at Book City in Bloor West Village; Montgomery's Inn at Dundas St. W. and Islington Ave.; The Book Exchange, 3111 Dundas St. W. at Clendenan; and Pandemonium Books, 2862 Dundas St. W., just west of Keele St. Discounts available to stores and organizations. |
